I am fascinated by women who can wear high heel shoes. I have never been able to do so, and with age, my learning curve is going down. All women look great in high heels but for those of us who have not mastered wearing them it is not a flattering look. No one looks their best when they had just fallen flat on their butt.

I belong to an elite group of women who have big feet. I have a difficult time finding shoes that fit well and an even more difficult time finding good high heel shoes. I do a lot of running around in my everyday life and I rely upon flat shoes. Although I can appreciate the look of high heel shoes and what it does for the legs of the woman who wears them, I have pretty much given up on wearing them myself.

Wearing high heel shoes makes your legs look longer, leaner, and more toned. They also make you look taller and your butt look perkier. High heel shoes were a great invention and addition to the fashion world but we have all seen a woman come crashing down while wearing them. We've even seen the professionals - the models - go tumbling down.

One type of high heel shoes that has become wildly popular in the last few years, the pointy toe variety, drives me crazy. They always remind me of the pointy shoes the witch in Wizard of Oz was wearing when the house fell on top of her. Perhaps it is my giant feet and the way in which such shoes accentuate their enormousness that makes me detest the pointy toe high heel shoes. All I know for sure is that I hate them with a passion and want them to go away soon.

I dream of the day where business casual means a blazer and some running shoes. I adore my running shoes and any kind of flat tennis shoe because they are the most comfortable shoes in the world. I think that running shoes are more comfortable than flip-flops and I would wear them all day every day if I could. I have gotten away with tennis shoes a few times at the office but unfortunately it can't be a regular thing. Maybe I need to look for different kind of job where the uniform comes with a pair of giant Adidas running shoes.
