Who Else Wants To Know About The Latest Fashion Show?

My sisters and I have had a sister’s weekend annually for many years. It is a weekend when we get a chance to catch up with what is going on in each others life without the distractions of spouses, children or entertaining. We pick a different city or area of the state to visit. We leave early on a Saturday morning and return home on Sunday. On Saturday we try to do something special. In the past we have gone to arts and crafts shows, the Mall of America, apple orchards, pottery warehouses and nail spas. We take turns planning the trip. This year it was my middle sister’s turn to plan the weekend. This meant that she needed to find an activity and reserve a hotel room. We like to get suites if they are available other wise we get two adjoining rooms. She decided that it would be fun to stay downtown Minneapolis and attend a fall fashion show that was being held at the convention center.

There are four of us. Two of my sisters live within seven miles of each other. I live forty five miles north of them and my other sister lives forty five mile east of them. We decided to meet at the middle sister’s home and take her SUV. The metro area is an hour drive from her home. We stopped for coffee on the way and the car was filled with talking and laughter as we made our way to the fashion show. We laughed about things we have done in the past and the odd situations that seem to happen to us no matter where we go. We all agreed that we would try not to embarrass ourselves at the fashion show.

The convention center had a woman’s expo featured for the weekend. There were many different demonstration stages set up that featured a wide range of topics. There were cooking demonstrations, skin care demos and many different health related topics. We had about and hour and a half to look through the exhibits before the beginning of the fashion show. We had planned that we would go out for a late lunch after the show. Our usual routine is to have a large lunch and then have snacks in the hotel room followed by dessert for our evening meal. We all picked up different literature on topics that interested us and we watched a cooking demo from one of the stars from the Food Network. The fashion show was interesting. The models were local celebrities and politicians. Most of the items in the fashion show were for career wear. We had a great deal of fun as usual on our sister’s weekend.
