How To Choose an LCD TV Wall Mount
You have a new LCD TV that you want to mount on the wall. But how will you know what is the very best mount for what you need? The following are a couple of things to think about when you're shopping for an LCD TV wall mount.
Before, every television and mount manufacturer used their own set up, and because of that it was a lot more difficult to decide what wall mount went with your TV. Now, however, all the manufacturers have decided on a basic setup and this allows the purchase of mounts that are universal. This not only saves money and time, but the holes that are pre drilled in the back of the TV make mounting them a great deal less difficult than it used to be.
When you open the box for a typical universal TV mount kit, you'll see a plate that goes on the wall and brackets that attach to the back of the TV. The TV wall mounts are manufactured specifically to fit the pre drilled holes in the back of the TV.
Keep in mind that even though it's a universal mounting kit in its hardware, there are mount choices on the market that you will want to look over before purchasing one. For example, if you're looking for a clean look, you need to go with the basic, standard TV wall mount. The standard TV mount will keep the TV within an inch of the wall. However, with this style, you cannot tilt the TV at all so you will need to be mindful about where it's mounted on the wall, taking into account where you would like the main viewing area to be.
If you think that you want to alter the angle of the TV display, then you really should purchase a tilt mount. The style is much like the other model, but the TV is held a little bit further away from the wall. This additional space makes it so the TV display can be adjusted and tilted. The tilt's degree varies, depending on the manufacturer and model of the mount.
If you decide on the tilt model you are going to want to examine how the mount moves. Some can be moved with just your hand since it moves on a ratchet system. alternative models will require a special device to be used to move the TV's angle. If you think you will be moving the position of the display from time to time, it is probably worth the extra expense to get the ratchet system for convenience and ease of the movement.
If you would rather be able to move to different places in the room and not have to sit on the same spot of the sofa each time you watch TV, you may want to consider a TV wall mount that allows the television to be moved from the wall and tilted and adjusted for virtually unlimited positions. These are referred to as articulating wall brackets.
So, when you're shopping for brackets for your TV, be sure that you look at each area that the television will be viewed from so you can buy the one that works the best for you.
