The Art of Sewing a Tassel

Sewing is an art practiced for centuries with needles that were first made out of animal bones. Today, those who sew as a hobby still practice it by hand with the help of stainless steel needles of many sizes in order to fit the requirements of the type of material you are sewing on.

Embroidery is probably the most practiced hobby of all when it comes to sewing and for a good reason. It makes an exquisite and unique piece or art when finished. However sewing is not only done as a hobby but also to enhance your home or office. Sewing tassels can help you enhance the look of almost anything around the house.

Different Types of Uses for a Sewing Tassel

Sewing tassels is mostly done by hand depending on its thickness and the type of sewing machine you have. Usually the quilt mode can help you sew tassels as well. Sewing tassels are usually added to curtains in order to be able to tie them as and when needed and that can be done by the machine with ease when you make your curtains or even added to the curtains if you purchased them ready-made.

Tassels can be purchased for any type of need you have in mind such as corners of the bed, curtains, skirting and chairs. Many use tassels for invitations, diaries, journals or to decorate gifts. There are specially designed tassels that can be used in your wardrobe as well, such as, the house robe or a formal ballroom dress that is old fashioned with lace seams.

Shopping for Sewing Tassels

Tassels are widely used and therefore you will be able to find it with ease in department stores or online as well. When shopping online however, be sure to double check the material from which the tassels are made and the exact colors as sometimes pictures can be deceiving and if you are acquiring them to match a specific design and/or material it can stand out if they are not perfectly matched.

Revive an Old Hobby and Start Creating New Styles

Sewing is a lost and forgotten hobby, but once you try it you will realize that it is not only relaxing but also very creative and stimulating as it will help bring out the fashion designer and interior decorator in you. It will give you the power to change and alter anything and everything as desired.
